Fiokee Call Upon Akwa Ibom Government Towards Not Valuing Their Musicians
Nigeria guitarist and composer, Fiokee has call upon the Government of Akwa Ibom State towards the attitude of not placing value on music artistes who hail from the State.
It’s been so bad that the music artistes who hail from Akwa Ibom State have been disvalued and downgraded. The entertainment sector of the State has been making use of outsiders instead of insiders to perform in events. Also, these outsiders are always treated well and paid heavily, neglecting home based music artistes.
Now, the guitarist is calling upon the State Government and those in charge of the entertainment sector in the State to value the efforts made by home based music artistes in the music industry at large, and to recognize them considering them as State representatives in the industry.
Fiokee made this plea via his socials, thus:
“I’m calling my state government and who ever is incharged of the entertainment sector that they need to step up and recognize the effort we the few Akwa ibomites put to represent our state in the Afrobeats industry. I see how they value and celebrate none indigenes and pay them heavily when they’re invited for events. But when it comes to their indigenes, they ridicule them and give them peanuts. That’s very discouraging. You have to give it to the Yorubas, they embrace and celebrate their own effortlessly with so much joy. Most of us from the niger delta had to work extra hard to break into the mainstream industry.
You can do better and i hope this message is passed accross properly.
